Huawei-HKUST Innovation lab is a joint research lab between Huawei and HKUST. The joint lab is located at HKUST campus with involvement from HKUST's professors, postdoc researchers, Ph.D. students as well as engineers from the core R&D departments in Huawei. The lab is engaged in the R&D activities of advanced ground breaking technologies for the next generation wireless and communication systems. We would like to invite high calibre candidates to apply for the following new positions. We offer competitive renumeration packages and exposure to advanced R&D on cutting edge technologies on next generation wireless systems. The positions are on contract basis renewable upon good performance.

[1]  PostDoc Research Fellow / Visiting Assistant Professor [Advanced Wireless Communications, Stochastic Optimization & Compressive Sensing (2015)]

  Responsibility:

-

Project Management:- Liaise and interface with companies from the industry on various applied research projects

-

Requirement:
-

Ph.D. Degree (ECE or Math) in related areas - Wireless Communications, Interference Mitigation, Network Control Theory, Stochastic Control of Wireless Resource, Stochastic Approximation and Learning, Distributive Algorithms or Compressive Sensing.

-

Strong theoretical and mathematical background is a MUST

-

Good publication record on top IEEE journals?

-

Strong leadership skills.

-

Able to work independently and be a team leader for theoretical research as well as applied research projects.

[2]  Post-doc Research Fellow / Senior Engineer [Advanced Wireless Communication DataPath (2015)]

  Responsibility:

-

Project Management:- Liase and interface with companies from the industry on various applied research projects

Requirement:
-

M.Phil / Ph.D. Degree (ECE) in related areas - Wireless Communications Algorithms and VLSI Architecture, FPGA Implementation

-

Strong background and experience on digital VLSI and FPGA implementation and design flow is a MUST

-

Solid experience on various software radio platform, embedded Linux with ability to design & understand communications algorithms

-

Strong leadership skills. Able to work independently and be a team leader for applied research projects

 

[3] Ph.D. Vacancy

  Responsibility:

-

There are a few limited Ph.D. vacancies. The Ph.D. candidate will be supervised by Prof. LAU and work with a team of Ph.D. students, postdoc and research assistant professors on cutting edge research on multi-disciplinary topics in 5G wireless communications, networking and control, statistical inference and big data systems as well as wireless sensor networks

Topics of research may include (but not limited to) Massive MIMO, Compressive Sensing and Sparse Recovery, Physical Layer Caching, Network Control Theory, Distributed Algorithm Designs, Parallel Optimizations

  Requirement:

-

B.Eng or MPhil in ECE/Math with good academic results and strong interests in communications and signal processing

-

Proficient and good foundation in mathematics

-

Have strong curiosity and strong desire to excel

-

A quick learner

-

Able to communicate effectively and a good team player
